WELCOME TO

KAJAKKBOX
WHERE YOU WANT

There are almost endless paddling opportunities along the coast and inland waters, and maybe you have a dream of a specific location or just want to paddle where you can anyway...

We supply kayaks and equipment upon request, and if you do not have the expertise yourself, we are also happy to help find instructors for a fun and safe experience.

Additional kayaks can also be delivered to the existing locations.

If you want a multi-day trip, let us deliver the kayaks and perhaps pick you up at another location.

We want more people to have the opportunity to experience kayaking. That's why we also work on solutions and adaptations for people with different needs and functional levels.

Kayaking should be available to everyone.

Kayaking on request

Have you passed a lake or sat by the archipelago and dreamed of paddling right there?

Do you have a group that loves activity but doesn't want all the hassle of handling equipment?

Do you want a social, active and unique experience without having to travel far?

With our mobile kayak service, we drive the kayaks out to you - whether it's to your company, hotel, campsite, festival or a private gathering by the sea.

We bring kayaks, equipment and help find instructors if needed, so you can experience the joy of paddling where you are.

We have the kayaks stored on trailers so if there is a road ahead we can easily deliver to you. We also have some partnerships for boat transport to several islands – so the only limits are your imagination.

We have experience from many locations in primarily Vestfold and Telemark, so if you would like input, we can help with accommodation suggestions, paddle routes, other activities and logistics.

If you have special needs regarding kayaks, let us know and we will help you choose one that suits your wishes in terms of size and features.

A paddle vest and paddle, as well as any splash cover, are included with each kayak, while paddlers bring their own clothes, drinks and snacks.

The different areas require different knowledge about bird life, fishing opportunities, wind and weather, and boat traffic... Adapt the trip to what it is like in the current period, and feel free to ask for tips on experiences along the route.

We drive the kayaks as far as possible, and help with information about the conditions at different locations. If you have special wishes or needs such as a beach or other facilities, please ask us about the possibilities.

There are endless possibilities here. Feel free to plan your trip using “Padleleden” or “PadleSammen” or search online for inspiration.

Safe paddling is extremely important to us, so be sure to check the weather forecast before your trip, and be careful at long crossings and areas with heavy boat traffic.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You must have a minimum "Wet card" from the Norwegian Paddling Association or equivalent experience to rent a kayak with Kajakkbox. This means being familiar with the equipment, knowing basic techniques and knowing what to do in the event of an overturn. The hirer is also expected to make their own assessments with regard to the weather.

We have included a paddle stretcher and a paddle vest with each kayak. This is adapted to the size of the kayak, but the experienced and discerning paddler may want to bring their own equipment anyway. There is no spray deck at the kayaks and renters must wear clothes and shoes suitable for paddling, and you should expect to get wet on your arms, legs and where you sit.

We have quite a few different kayaks, and strive to provide good information about which ones are suitable for your use and your height and weight. This is stated for each kayak, but if you are extra curious, there is a lot of information to be found on the dealers' websites.

You will receive a code for the kayak you have rented and unlock the correct box. Vest, paddle and sponge are removed and the kayak is pulled out and placed on the grass for inspection. Check that the kayak is initially empty and that the hatches, lines and seal keel work well. Adjust the foot pedals so that the kayak suits you and remember to put on a paddling vest. Pack a dry change of clothes if you are going on a longer trip. Close the kayak box with the padlock while on a trip.

If for some reason you find that the kayak is not in a condition where you want to paddle it, or there is a fault and you can not open the lock or the like, try to get in touch with us immediately preferably by phone or send an email. We will then do our best to help you and otherwise book another kayak and we will compensate you accordingly.

There is no separate place for storing equipment, but there is a shelf in each box where it is possible to leave clothes and shoes at your own risk. It is recommended that you bring a waterproof bag for your wallet, phone etc.

The most important thing is to check both the weather forecast and the actual weather at the paddling location. It is usually recommended to start the trip against the wind direction, but in special weather conditions the wind can change and at some paddling locations there are special conditions in terms of, for example, current. It will then be stated on the description.

It's a good idea to have a goal for the trip, but also keep an eye on the clock and think about returning well before the deadline. If there are several of you paddling together, take into account the least experienced.

There are many personal preferences here, but most things that are comfortable to move around in can work for paddling. In the event of an overturn, it is an advantage if the clothes fit well on the body and do not absorb too much water so they become heavy. You should choose clothes according to the water temperature and on longer trips bring a change of clothes and a windproof jacket for breaks. Running tights and a wool blouse work well. On the feet, neoprene or bathing shoes are recommended, or possibly shoes or sandals without laces that can get caught inside the kayak.

Remember a dry change for afterwards.

If the weather on the day you've booked is so bad that it's not safe to paddle, you may be offered the opportunity to change to an alternative location, time or have your booking refunded. Please contact us as early as possible so we can help. Weather conditions that entitle you to a refund are thunder, strong wind or fog.

Wear and tear on equipment is a natural consequence of heavy use and will not be charged to the tenant. Costs for repairing damage that is the result of careless use may be charged to the lessee. In the event of loss of a kayak or other equipment, you are responsible for all costs to replace what has been lost.

If you are many or want the kayaks for several days, please contact us and we will try to help you. Kajakkbox is especially designed to make paddling accessible to many for smaller adventures or everyday trips, but we are also happy to help with other needs.

Våttkort is the Norwegian certificate for kayaking, and it is divided so that you start either with an intro course (4 hours) or a basic course (16 hours) to gain basic skills and become safe in the event of an overturn. The basic course must be taken before it is possible to continue with technique courses, etc... See more about wet cards and content at https://padling.no/vaattkort/

Many providers, kayak clubs and DNT offer kayaking courses. Feel free to get in touch and maybe we can help you find someone near you.
